Overview
  • Power/Vac® circuit breakers : The new Power/Vac series of circuit breakers have been tested to the latest ANSI C37.06-2009 standard. They are UL listed and KEMA certified test reports are available. This latest design is based on the proven ML-17 mechanism, which has been in use for more than  35 years. The reliability of Power/Vac has been demonstrated by its ability to handle 63kA high interrupting duty for nearly 20 years. Adding to our flexibility of design, all breaker ratings are now available with 5 cycle or 3 cycle interrupting times. Class C2 (formerly classified as definite purpose) capacitor switching capability is also now available, which incorporates faster TRV values than in previous edition of the ANSI standards.

  • Power/Vac® circuit breakers are ideal for medium voltage distribution applications where there is the need for a highly reliable and a time-tested proven design. This would include industrial installations such as oil/gas, refining, petrochemical, and mining and metals; as well as commercial applications such as industrial parks, universities, municipal substations, office complexes, and large retail facilities.

  • Power/Vac® circuit breakers utilize vacuum interrupters with the latest copper chromium technology, minimizing current chop concerns. As a result, surge suppressors are no longer required.

    This latest Power/Vac design is based on the proven ML-17 mechanism, which has been in use for more than 35 years. The reliability of Power/Vac has been demonstrated by its ability to handle 63kA high interrupting duty for nearly 20 years.

    The ML-17 mechanism is used for both circuit breakers and ground and test devices, resulting in reduced maintenance costs, fewer spare parts requirements, and reduced operator training.

  • ​The Power/Vac® circuit breaker is fully integrated into your switchgear assembly and, through field modification, can be installed into existing Power/Vac switchgear. Adding this feature in the field also allows for factory review and maintenance of your existing equipment and provides an extended factory warranty after installation.

  • ​Whether you are selecting this option as a feature for your new equipment order or having it installed on existing equipment, you have to do nothing but place the order and tell us when the equipment needs to be on site or when your shutdown is scheduled and let the Powell Project Management staff take it from there.
